Ready to blow some minds? Here you go!

When the leaves start to turn, hunting and fishing begins to really pop off around the US. You know what else does also? Apple pie moonshine. This campfire favorite hits just right, isn't strong at all, but it sure packs a punch with the Everclear mixed in. Thankfully, this concoction is actually super easy to make.

Try our Riverside Reserve French roast coffee!

Here's how it's done.

Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 gallon apple juice
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 8-10 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 liter 190-proof grain alcohol (such as Everclear)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel syrup
  • Cheesecloth or a fine-mesh strainer for filtering
  • Mason jars or glass bottles for storage

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients:

    • In a large stockpot or Dutch oven, combine the apple cider, apple juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon sticks.
    • Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugars have completely dissolved
  2. Cool the Mixture:

    • Remove the pot from the heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. This may take a few hours.
  3. Add Alcohol and Flavorings:

    • Once the mixture has cooled, carefully stir in the liter of 190-proof grain alcohol, vanilla extract, and caramel syrup. Ensure that everything is well combined.
  4. Filter the Moonshine:

    • To remove any solids and create a clear, smooth moonshine, filter the mixture. You can do this by placing a piece of cheesecloth or using a fine-mesh strainer over a large bowl or another container.
    • Slowly pour the moonshine through the filter, allowing it to strain thoroughly. This may take some time, but it's important for achieving clarity.
  5. Bottle and Store:

    • Carefully pour the filtered moonshine into clean, sterile Mason jars or glass bottles with airtight lids. Leave a bit of space at the top of each container.
    • Seal the containers tightly and store them in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks. This aging process allows the flavors to meld and mellow.
  6. Enjoy Responsibly:

    • After the two-week aging period, your homemade apple pie moonshine is ready to be enjoyed. Serve it chilled or at room temperature as a delightful fall or holiday beverage.

This moonshine is quite potent due to the high-proof alcohol, so please consume it responsibly and in moderation. It's a great addition to holiday gatherings or as a homemade gift for friends and family who appreciate a flavorful spirit. And yes, wek now this isn't real moonshine. But who cares?
