To get this recipe started, there isn't really a whole lot of prep. One quick trip to the grocery store and you've got all you need for probably less than $20, assuming you already have your own ground venison....you do have your own ground venison, right?
Outdoorsman's Chili
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground venison
- 1 large chopped onion
- 2 minded garlic cloves
- *1 packet grocery store chili mix
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 can red kidney beans - drained
- 1 can black beans - drained
- 1 can sweet corn
- 1 large can diced tomatoes
- 1 can can crushed tomatoes
Alright. Are you ready to make the magic happen? I did this in my insta pot, but whatever works for you is wonderful. Simply saute the onions, add in the venison until it is browned, and then drain. From there, add in garlic until fragrant, then toss in everything else and slow cook for at least a couple hours.

One thing to note, I like to use the basic chili mix pack from my grocery store. It's a no fuss packet that tastes great and adds in all the seasonings that make chili pretty good. However, I do tend to add in extra chili powder just to taste.
Well there you go. There's not much to this recipe, but for a simple outdoorsman, or outdoorswoman, this is all you need!
